Roles & permissions
What owners, admins, members, and guests can each do.
Every person in a company has one role that defines what they can do. Roles are set at the company level.
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control — billing, company settings, workspaces, members, and every board. |
| Admin | Manage workspaces and members, create and delete boards, and edit any card. |
| Member | Create boards and edit cards in the workspaces they belong to. |
| Guest | View only the boards they’re added to — no creating or editing. |
Only an owner can grant the admin role. Ownership is transferred, not invited.
A person can hold different roles in different companies — being an admin in one company doesn’t grant admin anywhere else.
Common questions
Can I have more than one owner?
Yes, a company can have several owners. Owners and admins manage the company.
What can a guest not do?
Guests are view-only — they can’t edit cards, manage members or change settings.
